broome-mitchell plateau CRUISE/FLY ITINERARY

DAY 1: DEPART BROOME

Board Great Escape - 5pm at Broome Jetty for welcome drinks and canapés (transfers from Broome from 3.30pm). The captain will give a cruise and safety briefing before we head off, destined for the fabled Kimberley coast. Dinner will be served while underway and there is the rest of the evening to relax, familiarise yourself with the boat and settle into your cabin. We will be cruising all night.

DAY 2: HORIZONTAL WATERFALLS

Wake up cruising through King Sound and the Buccaneer Archipelago. Tide permitting, we will collect some legendary Kimberley oysters for the evening entree. We will continue on for another hour and head toward Crocodile Creek where there is a freshwater swimming pool to relax in and hear some of the areas history in the mining industry.

Enjoy the scenery as we cruise through the Koolan Island gap down to Talbot Bay where, depending on the tides, we can ride the exhilarating Horizontal Waterfalls in the dinghies.

DAY 3: DOUBTFUL BAY

Great Escape will leave early to cruise through the Kingfisher Islands enroute to Raft Point. Here we will discover a fantastic Aboriginal art gallery overlooking the the most fantastic panorama of Doubtful Bay.

In the afternoon we will cruise over to Ruby Falls for a freshwater swim and dangle a few lines for dinner as the sun sets.

DAYS 4 & 5: MONTGOMERY REEF, LANGII

Marvel at the salt-water waterfalls of Montgomery Reef in an early morning foray along this amazing reef structure. Catch a turtle and hear the history this reef has to offer. We will then cruise up the coast to Langii – an Aboriginal Dreaming site. Here you will see the mystical petrified warriors and maybe swim in the crystal ocean that this area always seems to have. There are many other amazing places to explore around this breath-taking region. In the evening of Day 5 we will make our way to the Prince Regent River.

DAY 6: KING'S CASCADE, CAMP CREEK

Everyone’s favourite – tie the Great Escape up to King’s Cascade waterfall. Here you will hear the harrowing story of Ginger Meadows who was eaten by a crocodile at this site in 1987. We will climb the cascade to swim in the multitude of crystal rock pools and cascades fringed with grass and trees. A truly memorable experience. On the tide we will depart from here back down the river to the mouth of Camp Creek.

DAY 7: CAREENING BAY, MT TRAFALGAR

We spend the morning fishing and exploring the tributaries; croc spotting, fruit batting and generally having a good look around. After lunch we head down Camp Creek for a trek to a beautiful waterfall and swimming pool.

In the afternoon we will cruise up through Saint George’s Basin to Careening Bay and the Mermaid tree of 1820. It is a stunning cruise passing Mt Trafalgar and Mt Waterloo. The tide will depict whether we fish along the way or not.

DAY 8: MITCHELL PLATEAU

Great Escape will be alongside Naturalist Island at the mouth of the Hunter River. It is here where your helicopter transfer will begin up to the Mitchell Plateau and back to Broome, to arrive back in 4-5pm.

Mitchell Plateau-Broome Fly/Cruise Departs 7am, Arrives 8am.
