BROOME - WYNDHAM ITINERARY
DAY 1: Broome, Board ‘Kimberley Quest II'
Cruise to Cape Leveque From the relaxed coastal settlement of Broome, a courtesy vehicle will pick you up from your accommodation at approximately 4.30pm and transfer you to the Kimberley Quest II for boarding at approximately 5.00pm. Begin your "ultimate Kimberley expedition" with relaxing sunset drinks on the sundeck as the Kimberley Quest II cruises past Cable Beach and up the coast towards the Dampier Peninsula and Cape Leveque.
DAY 2: Buccaneer Archipelago Region
The next seven days are spent exploring many of the Kimberley Region's islands and inland waterways. This morning enjoy a scrumptious breakfast whilst cruising past Cape Leveque at the tip of the Dampier Peninsula. Marvel at the spectacular surrounds of the Thousand Islands whilst cruising through the Buccaneer Archipelago past the King Sound and into Strickland Bay. Cool off with a refreshing fresh water swim at the Kruiguin River Waterfalls (medium level walk) with the opportunity to try your hand at Kimberley sports fishing or laze about the sundeck in the late afternoon.
DAY 3: Talbot Bay Region
This morning we cruise by Whirlpool Pass and into Yampi Sound further exploration takes us past the infamous Cockatoo Island. We stop to explore Crocodile Creek, where there are pretty waterfalls and a freshwater swimming hole (easy level walk). Next we venture on to one of the icons of the Kimberley Coast, the magnificent Horizontal Waterfalls. The region's 12 metre tides create a spectacular scene, sending huge volumes of water crashing through the narrow chasm in the cliff face. Board one of the Kimberley Quest's tenders and head in for an up-close and an exhilarating ride through this natural phenomenon.
DAY 4: Sale River, Montgomery Reef
Today we cruise inland to explore the first of the big rivers, the Sale River. The Sale River is surrounded by rarely visited Kunmunya Aboriginal Land; we step into the Kimberley Quest II's tenders for an excursion up this impressive river and disembark to walk amid an ancient patch of rainforest admire the surroundings or take a dip in the rainforest pools before returning to the Kimberley Quest II (easy level walk). Continue on to visit the amazing Montgomery Reef. As the tide falls, a waterfall is created over the reef platform, which eventually becomes exposed to create a magical lagoon teeming with sea life and many species of sea birds and turtles.
DAY 5: Camden Sound, Kuri Bay, Brecknack Harbour, Settlers' Graves
This morning we set out towards Camden Sound, the site of a 19th-century sheep farming settlement formed by early Victorian settlers. In this rugged setting and harsh climate, the settlement failed and the farmers left the Kimberley for the Pilbara region. We then pass through Kuri Bay, home to the Kimberley region's largest pearling operation. At Brecknack Harbour, we visit the old settlers' graves and soak up the local history (easy walk).
DAY 6: St George Basin, Prince Regent River, King Cascades
A day full of adventure as we visit the St George Basin (one of the Kimberley's largest inland waterways) before cruising up the Prince Regent River. This powerful river runs so straight; it's hard to believe it is a natural watercourse. Arriving at the King Cascades, we are able to admire the contrasting colours of the red rocks, lush vegetation and blue Kimberley skies. The water falls in breathtaking tiers and it's possible to climb above the falls to swim in the multitude of crystal-clear rock pools (medium walk and climb).
DAY 7: Careening Bay, Bigge Island
Visit Careening Bay, site of an ancient Boab tree first visited in 1820 which was carved by Phillip Parker-King one of our earliest explorers (easy walk) then cruise north to Bigge Island one of the Kimberley's largest Island. Continue on to explore the islands pristine beaches before heading back to the Kimberley Quest II to relax with your favourite wine or beer and watch as another spectacular sunset sinks below the Kimberley horizon.
DAY 8: Admiralty Gulf, Mitchell River
Cruise Admiralty Gulf to the Mitchell River, another of the Kimberley's big rivers and the source of the magnificent Mitchell Falls. Drop a line in and perfect your fishing skills, go crocodile spotting at low tide or simply relax a top the Kimberley Quest II's sun deck with a book from the onboard library. Enjoy a scrumptious lunch, with time for a swim in the cool waters of Surveyors Pool.
DAY 9: Vanssitart Bay, WWII DC3 Crash Site
Now we are on the north coast of the Kimberley. Today we navigate some of the numerous rivers leading off Vanssitart Bay, visiting sites rich in the fascinating Bradshaw paintings. There is also the opportunity to visit the crash site and explore the remains of a DC3 aircraft which crashed during World War 2.
DAY 10: Napier Broome Bay
We cruise east into Napier Broome Bay, enjoying more fishing, relaxing and exploring. We visit the ancient Indonesian Troupanging site for an in site into the lives of the early Indonesian fishermen. The site stems back to the first early contact between the Aboriginal tribes and the Indonesian fisherman.
DAY 11: Drysdale River
Today we encounter one of the Kimberley's longest rivers, the Drysdale. We spend the day exploring the spectacular gorges and waterfalls of the Drysdale area and marvel at its unique flora and fauna. The Drysdale is renowned for its crocodiles, flying foxes and many species of birdlife. Another chance at trying to catch the Kimberley Barramundi.
DAY 12: King George Falls
At high tide, we cross the sandbars of the King George River for a breathtaking cruise.
Incredible scenery unfolds as we reach the King George Falls the highest waterfall in Western Australia and anchor at the base of the twin falls. Climb to the top and frolic in the fresh water pools (medium level walk).
DAY 13: King George River, Berkeley River
Today, a leisurely return cruise leads us back into the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. The Berkeley River is next, offering more stunning scenery, beautiful fresh water pools for a refreshing dip.
DAY 14: Berkeley River, Cambridge Gulf
Today is your last chance to catch a barramundi or to try your luck for a large golden trevally at the mouth of the Berkley River. Alternatively you may go crocodile spotting or birdwatching. Savour your last evening under the Kimberley skies as we cruise north through the Cambridge Gulf.
DAY 15: Wyndham Port
Arrive into Wyndham Port at approximately 7.00am and wave goodbye to the crew of the Kimberley Quest II as you board your courtesy coach for your transfer to the town site of Kununurra (approx 1.5 hours South). Perhaps you may wish to stay in Kununurra for a few days and take the time to explore the infamous surrounds of Lake Argyle, the Ord River and Purnululu National Park, home to the Bungle Bungle Ranges.

WYNDHAM - BROOME ITINERARY
DAY 1: Wyndham Port
Transfer from Kununurra to Wyndham Port at approximately 15.30pm and begin your "ultimate Kimberley expedition" with relaxing sunset drinks on the sundeck as the Kimberley Quest cruises the Cambridge Gulf overnight to the Berkeley River.
DAY 2: Berkeley River
Enjoy a 15 mile cruise up the Berkeley River taking in the numerous falls and ancient escarpments. First chance to try your hand at catching a barramundi. A walk up the back of the Berkley to encounter an array of birdlife and enjoy a leisurely dip in one of the many freshwater pools.
DAY 3: King George River
At high tide, we cross the sandbars of the King George River for a breathtaking cruise and incredible scenery and enjoy an exhilarating shower as the vessel sails under the mighty King George Falls, one of the Kimberley's great icons. Explore some of the many creeks of this mighty river in one of our custom built tenders.
DAY 4: King George Falls
After an overnight stay on anchor near the base of the twin falls the highest waterfalls in Western Australia, you then have the opportunity to climb to the top of the falls. Incredible scenery unfolds as we reach the top of the falls, a photographer's delight! Enjoy a frolic in the fresh water pools (medium level walk). Cruise around Cape Londonderry the top of Western Australia to Napier Broome Bay.
DAY 5: Drysdale River
Today we encounter one of the Kimberley's longest rivers, the Drysdale infamous for its great barramundi. We spend the day exploring and marvel at its unique flora and fauna. The Drysdale is renowned for its crocodiles, flying foxes and many species of bird life.
DAY 6: Napier Broome Bay
We cruise east into Napier Broome Bay, enjoying more fishing, relaxing and exploring. We visit the ancient Indonesian Troupanging site for an in site into the lives of the early Indonesian fishermen. Next we venture on to one of the icons of the Kimberley Coast, the magnificent Horizontal Waterfalls. The region's 12 metre tides create a spectacular scene, sending huge volumes of water crashing through the narrow chasm in the cliff face. Board one of the tenders and head in for an up-close look and exhilarating ride through at this natural phenomenon, which can only be viewed from the air or at sea. Cruise through Iron islands Pass and into Yampi Sound and past Cockatoo Island.
DAY 14: Buccaneer Archipelago Region
This morning enjoy a scrumptious breakfast whilst cruising through the numerous whirl pools and islands which form the Buccaneer Archipelago. We stop for a barbeque lunch and to explore Crocodile Creek, where there are pretty waterfalls and a freshwater swimming hole (easy level walk). Cruise through the King Sound and the thousand islands and watch the sunset over Cape Leveque with your last sunset cocktail.
DAY 15: Broome
Disembark the Kimberley Quest II this morning, after enjoying your last onboard breakfast before transferring to your hotel or airport.
