Leeuwin II

True Adventures Starts Here...

Sailing a tall ship is one of the last true adventures. It focuses mind, body and spirit. It is exhilarating, and it is inspiring.

People who have sailed aboard Leeuwin II talk of the romance of tall ships, the beauty of the sails full of wind, the feel of the warm wooden deck under bare foot, and the sense of being lost in another time of adventure and exploration.

The Leeuwin II offers a truly unique opportunity to experience all of this, and more. She is the only youth sail training ship in Australia that includes a choice of exciting Eco Discovery Voyages for active and adventurous adults in her annual sailing program. These are voyages with a strong focus on the natural and cultural heritage values of the stunning, remote and rugged coastlines of Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Whether you choose magical Ningaloo, the breathtaking Kimberley or the untouched Top End, you will see it all - in comfort and safety - from the perspective of the early European explorers. Every step of the way you will be guided not only by on board specialists and visiting guest speakers, but also by our experienced crew, who will help you to ‘learn the ropes' - literally! - of square rigged sailing.

It doesn't matter if you've never sailed before. Most participants who come aboard have no prior sailing experience, so please don't worry. Safety at sea is paramount to us, and the first few hours are always spent familiarising you with the ship and the fundamentals of sailing her.

Leeuwin voyages are not just about learning to sail, they are about self exploration, making new friends, generating community spirit, developing cultural understanding, increasing environmental awareness, witnessing amazing coastlines and experiencing the power of the ocean.

"Sailing on Leeuwin has the ability to strip away human falseness in our interactions with one another, and leave us at the end of a voyage with a fresh understanding of who we are and what are capable of, and what our weaknesses might be. The process and end result is a very refreshing assessment of ourselves."
