HUNTER RIVER-WYNDHAM fly/cruise itinerary


DAY 1: HUNTER RIVER

Your welcome aboard the Matrix will be amidst the untouched wilderness that surrounds the Mitchell River. Our light aircraft will transfer you from Kununurra to the spectacular Mitchell Plateau. Here you will board a helicopter for a thrilling flight over the magnificent Mitchell Waterfalls with a bird's eye view of the surrounding valley - including Big Mertens Falls. After flying over the iconic Mitchell Falls you will land on Naturaliste Island to board the Matrix and begin your Kimberley experience!

Cruising the Hunter River, you will have time to settle in to your cabin and enjoy a mouth-watering meal on your first evening aboard Matrix. 

DAY 2: MITCHELL RIVER, SURVEYORS CREEK

The Mitchell River is a great spot for Barramundi and you will get an opportunity to catch 'the big one' before spending the afternoon at Surveyors Creek for a swim in the refreshing pool.

DAY 3: VANSITTART BAY - BRADSHAW ART

Today you will have an opportunity to see the "Bradshaws" - ancient rock art that pre-dates the Wandjina paintings! They are possibly the oldest known to man. Overnight we cruise to Drysdale River. 

DAY 4: DRYSDALE RIVER - KING GEORGE RIVER

We explore the Drysdale River's gorges and waterfalls today before heading to the King George river. 

DAY 5: KING GEORGE RIVER

Today we explore yet another mighty Kimberley river - The King George! When the tide is high enough, we'll cross the sand bars at the mouth to reveal an even more breathtaking river vista! Then our journey upstream will take us through towering gorge walls to end at the mighty King George Falls. Here we anchor at the base of the Twin Falls and you will find endless places to explore. Climb to the top of the waterfalls for a cruise highlight! Visit waterholes, swim at the crevice or just relax with a drink while taking in the majestic surroundings of the King George River. At sunset the colours of the cliffs will turn bronze - a photographer's delight! 

DAY 6: BERKELEY RIVER

The Berkeley River offers stunning sandstone scenery, amphitheatre waterfalls and beautiful freshwater pools. Another spectacular river with great fishing and incredible wildlife, take the opportunity to catch a barramundi today or alternatively you may go crocodile-spotting or bird watching. The Berkeley River is a well kept secret - 25 kilometres of beautiful river gorge, great bushwalks, swimming holes and waterfalls. The last chance for the fisherman to land a big one before heading overnight to Wyndham. 

DAY 7: BERKELEY RIVER - WYNDHAM

Arrive in Wyndham port at approximately 7.00. Enjoy a sumptuous breakfast aboard before being coached to Kununurra at approx. 8.00am. Farewell your passengers as we drop you to your Kununurra accommodation or the airport.

Helicopter and light aircraft transfers ex the Matrix and to Kununurra ARE INCLUDED in the cruise tariff.

WYNDHAM-HUNTER RIVER cruise/fly

Night 1 Wyndham-Berkeley River 5pm

Transfer from your accommodation to the Wyndham port (approx. 1.5 hr drive). Board the Matrix and settle into your cabin. Enjoy champagne in the spa and some mouth-watering Kimberley cuisine.

Overnight cruise Wyndham-Berkeley River.

Day 1 Berkeley River

The Berkeley River offers stunning sandstone scenery, amphitheatre waterfalls and beautiful freshwater pools. Another spectacular river with great fishing and incredible wildlife, take the opportunity to catch a barramundi today or alternatively you may go crocodile-spotting or bird watching. The Berkeley River is a well kept secret - 25 kilometres of beautiful river gorge, great bushwalks, swimming holes and waterfalls.

Day 2 King George

Head from the King George River to the Drysdale River for gorges and waterfalls.

Day 4 Vansittart Bay

Day 5 Mitchell River

Visit Surveyors Creek for a swim in the refreshing pool, then cruise to the Mitchell River - a great spot for Barramundi.

Day 6 Hunter River

Explore ‘the Hunter' - the Hunter River is about as far away as you can get in Australia, and you will visit a stunning river system that is lined with dense mangrove forests, surrounded by rainforest encrusted mountains and home to large crocodiles.

Day 7 Naturalist Island-Kununurra

After breakfast, farewell the Matrix and the best is yet to come! A helicopter take off from Naturalist Island at approx. 8am will take you on a thrilling flight over the magnificent Mitchell Waterfalls with a bird's eye view of the surrounding valley - including Big Mertens Falls. At the spectacular Mitchell Plateau our light aircraft will transfer you from  Kununurra to your accommodation (arrive in midday)
