"Our Diving Adventures are all live aboard. Diving does not get any better than what you will experience on the Great Escape! All our cruises have a Dive Master on board and a crew that know this extensive diving region like no other operators. The average water temp at the Rowley shoals is 27°C. Lovely!

The port of Broome is steeped in diving history and exotic culture dating back to the late 1800's when diving for mother of pearl was a treacherous yet noble occupation. Today local divers still search for pearlshell along the coast in sometimes murky tidal waters , whereas avid recreational diver 's like to adventure out to the edge of the continental shelf , some 300km offshore , to dive the string of tropical atolls that are spotted along the continental shelf from the Rowley Shoals in the south to Scott, erangapatam, Ashmore, Cartier and Hibernia Reefs in the north".

broome - rowley shoals - broome 5 & 7 nights

Imagine a dive adventure to one of the world's great coral atoll diving Meccas. And being one of only a small number of people who will experience this, as yet, relatively undiscovered diver's paradise. A days cruising west of Broome discover the Rowley Shoals, an eco-dive experience unmatched anywhere else in the world. A chain of three spectacular, pristine coral atolls - each covering 80 square kilometres and rising up to 400 metres from the ocean floor, on the very edge of the widest continental shelf in the world. Dive on one of the largest untouched coral gardens on earth. Swim amongst Giant Clams and shellfish - and handfeed Giant Potato Cod and Maori Wrasse. Discover over 200 species of coral and over 650 species of fish. With visibility in excess of 60 metres and a warm tropical climate - this is one dive adventure not to be missed!

broome - rowley shoals - broome 13 night Northern Atolls diving

This is truly an adventure for the serious diving enthusiast. After experiencing what the Rowley Shoals has to offer, many divers start to ask what other diving is available in this area. The answer - a lot! But the locations are difficult to access with long cruises in between the atolls that string their way north to Indonesia.

A northern Atolls Diving Adventure will take in the atolls of Scott, Serangapatam, Ashmore, Cartier and Hibernia Reefs. Depending on the group and interest we may visit the Rowley Shoals.

Due to the distances between atolls, this cruise cannot be undertaken in under 12 days. The adventure takes us to colourful tropical reefs that are often not visited by a motor vessel for years on end. It puts us into contact with curious Indonesian fishermen who have been fishing these waters for centuries. Even though we are still in Australian waters (just!) our Government allows the Indonesian fishermen to fish these waters with traditional equipment only. That is no motors or motor equipment on their little wooden boats. Encountering these people is an adventure all to itself!

Returning to Broome from so far north is another unique adventure. We will stop at Cassini Island, 60 nauticl miles off the Kimberley Coast. With water visibility considered ‘average' due to the 12 meter tides experienced along the coast, you can explore a whole new underwater environment and eco-system. We have seen crocodile tracks on the beaches here, but still haven't come face to face with one on Scuba! From here we will cruise further south where we can come in on the coast and have a day of Kimberley adventure - if everyone wants to that is. There is no diving as there is no vis and lots of crocodiles! We can fish for the elusive sporting barramundi and we can hike to a waterfall complete with freshwater pool, fringed in tropical ferns and huge gorgeous flat sandstone rocks.
